The Bosphorus Bridge is one of the two suspension bridges over the Bosphorus, connecting the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea. The feet of the bridge are in Ortaköy district on the European side and in Üsküdar Beylerbeyi district on the Anatolian side.
The bridge, whose construction started on February 20, 1970, was put into service at 12:00 on October 30, 1973, with a state ceremony in honor of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey. While it was the fourth longest suspension bridge in the world when its construction was completed, it is ranked twenty-first as of 2012.
