Kucukayasofya District

Küçükayasofya is a cute neighborhood in the historical peninsula of Istanbul, between Cankurtaran and Kadırga districts. Sultanahmet is located right above it. The streets at the bottom of the neighborhood open to the Marmara coast through passages under the railway.
The old French Prison, right next to the Küçükaya Sophia Mosque, was restored with the efforts of the Metropolitan Municipality and Eminönü Municipality. The cultural center was named after Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ali Müfit Gürtuna. The historical building now hosts cultural and artistic events.
