Ortakoy Mosque

With its neobaroque style minarets and magnificent appearance, Ortaköy Mosque is a beauty that everyone who comes to Istanbul should see. Ortaköy Mosque, which catches the eye with all its beauty while heading towards Beşiktaş by ferry, is also known as Büyük Mecidiye Mosque. Built on the edge of the Bosphorus, the mosque was commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecit by architect Nigoğos Balyan of Armenian origin and was opened in 1854.
