The first pier in Ortaköy, which was called Arkeon in ancient times, was built in 1851, above the Abdülmecit Mosque, made of wood. The building, which has undergone many changes and restorations over the last hundred years, finally took its current form in the early 2000s. The biggest factor in the change of location is the difficulty caused by the strong north wind blowing in the Bosphorus to the captains approaching the pier. Located on the shores of the Bosphorus and Ortaköy Mosque, Ortaköy Pier is one of the unique elements that make up Ortaköy Square today.
