The Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts is the first Turkish museum that covers Islamic art works collectively. The museum, which was formerly located in the soup kitchen in the Süleymaniye Complex, was moved to the İbrahim Pasha Palace in Sultanahmet Square in 1983. Ibrahim Pasha Palace, the only private palace other than the sultan palaces that has survived to the present day, is known as one of the most important examples of Ottoman civil architecture.
